Abdi İbrahim İlaç Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. is Turkey's largest pharmaceutical company, founded in 1912 in Küçükmustafapaşa, Istanbul by pharmacist Abdi Nadir İbrahim Bey and now run by the third generation of the founding family under chairman Nezih Barut. The company has led Turkey's pharmaceutical industry since 2002 and develops the sector's largest portfolio: close to 250 brands and more than 500 products spanning general treatments, central nervous system, specialty care, respiratory and consumer health. Manufacturing is centred on the 174,600 m² Esenyurt Production Complex near Istanbul (opened 2000; ~700 million boxes/year capacity; GMP/GLP; ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified and audited by European health authorities) and the AbdiBio biotechnology plant (13,500 m², opened 2018), backed by Turkey's first accredited pharmaceutical R&D centre. Abdi İbrahim operates in 17 countries outside Turkey and exports to more than 70 countries, and runs a 50/50 joint venture, Abdi İbrahim Otsuka, with Japan's Otsuka Pharmaceutical.
