Active Key GmbH, founded in 2005 by Gerhard and Heidi Hahn in Pegnitz, Germany, is a manufacturer of professional keyboards and PC mice. From 2013 it added disinfectable protected keyboards for medical and hygiene-critical applications, and by 2018 hygiene keyboards and mice had become its strongest business line, supplied to university hospitals, hospitals, dentists and laboratories. Its medical devices feature silicone-sealed, fully wipeable/immersible surfaces (IP68 option), a CleanFunction cleaning lockout, and EN 60601-1-2 medical EMC compliance. The company was acquired by CHERRY in 2021, integrated into Cherry Digital Health, and in May 2025 the Active Key business was acquired by Contour Design, where it now operates as a hygiene/medical input-device brand.
